Wrapped in words is a day in the run-up to Advent to explore your place in eternity and focus on your relationship with God through the power of words and images.
The aim of the workshop is to give you space to contemplate and reflect, immersing yourself in words of hope and light and having the opportunity to respond through the creation of new patterns in poetry and prose.
The day will start with the stimulus of some words and images to help you become ‘wrapped in words’. Working individually and with others, this is a time to recharge, reflect and find new rhythms. Rediscover the creativity of your chosen art form in response to questions and activities on themes associated with Advent.
The day runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 17 November at The Stable in Salisbury Road, High Barnet, the home church of Heather Ellis and Jo Ruckman who are running the workshop. Lunch will be provided.
To start you thinking, here is an extract from Jan L Richardson’s book Night Visions, which has been one of the starting points for this workshop.
There are stories embedded in our skin and words enfleshed in us and so may you bless us with those who by tender touch release the tales, trace the lines, free the words one by one.
Give to us those who will listen us into our own language till we are hoarse with the telling and with the laughter at being released from the silences we had kept so long.
